Gootraxians are the opposing team to the Humans in Kaiju Paradise. They are composed of a goo-like substance and are usually capable of infecting Humans, turning them into fellow Gootraxians, though some are capable of actually killing a Human. They usually cannot pick up weapons due to their lack of knowledge on how to use the weapons, although there is only one current Gootraxian in game that does have this ability.

When a Human loses all of their HP either due to hazards around the map or by another Gootraxian, they will turn into one of them. There are specific items lying around the map that can also turn a Human into a Gootraxian. Along with this, there are also food items that can be used on hazards eaten to turn into a Gootraxian.

Basic Abilities

A few Gootraxians have their own unique abilities that can be found within their respective entries, but almost all have two basic abilities: Grab and Attack. Attack is typically a quick swipe functionally similar to most Human melee weapons, while Grab allows one to grapple a Human, dealing a large amount of damage over time, benefitting from lifesteal, and allowing you to maneuver them into an unfavorable position utilizing environmental hazards.

Attack

"Attack them"

Attack as stated, is a quick swipe that deals solid damage and allows for quick and efficient finishers, granting you 30 HP regen upon successful infection. This, however, does not knockback nor does it stun Humans. In tandem with Grab, it is possible to deal a large amount of damage to a single Human by swapping to Attack after Grab, as the Grab's cooldown expires while grabbing onto a Human. Using Attack on Humans wearing transmogrifying items such as Catte buckets will knock them off of the Human.

Some Gootraxians deal more damage, such as Manic during Power Outages or in some cases reduced damage, such as Azarue's reduced direct damage.

Grab

"Grab them"

Grab, as its name suggests, allows one to grab their enemy, dealing a high amount of damage over the duration of the Grab. While grabbing your victim, you can slowly move them into environmental hazards such as puddles, crystals and Shork fins, allowing for a quicker infection. While doing so, the Gootraxian's health will regenerate by 25% damage dealt and will gain 15 HP upon a successful infect.

In order to escape a grab, the Human must mash their screen, keyboard or mouse. Alternatively, if the Gootraxian grabbing the Human is interrupted by an attack, they will release the victim from the grab. Gootraxians may also unequip grab to release their victim. Upon being grabbed, a click count appears on the screen in which the player has to click 15 times in order to escape the grab. Upon breaking out of a grab, the Human will be given a 2 second omen period that prevents them from being grabbed again.

If the option "New Struggle System" is enabled, the player must rapidly press two designated keys (Q and E by default) in the correct order until the bar fills up, of which will break them out of the grab.

The damage of Grab is dealt every .2 seconds. They can also be almost entirely prevented by using a Long Pipe at the cost of its durability and slight damage to its wielder. Some Gootraxians also have abilities that add effects to the grab, such as the unique animation of Hebi (and formerly Kawaii Shork and Panther) or Lemon Shork's ability to blur the victim's screen.

Bestiary

The above table is organized to resemble the in-game Bestiary, which was added in the first part of V3.1. The Bestiary serves the purpose of allowing players to view additional information regarding Gootraxians, such as a detailed description, how many you have killed, infects obtained while using them, and how many times you have become them. Hovering over icons inside of the Bestiary will change the icon to an alternative art of the Gootraxian. In previous versions, doing so repetitively on certain Gootraxians would play a special sound effect easter egg relating to the Gootraxian.

Entries can be unlocked by infecting 5 Humans in a row as the specific Gootraxian or by killing the specific Gootraxian you wish to unlock 5 times without dying. The only exception to this is the Nightcrawler, which require you to either turn into or kill its Goggled variant once, or infect 10 Humans as a minion.

While in the Bestiary, "Snooping", composed by Fishcracks, will play.

Do note that most of the Bestiary entries do not have a description yet as they are not yet finished.

Removed Gootraxians

  • Charem - Removed in V3D due to controversies with its creator, primarily involving inappropriate actions made towards minors online.[v]
  • Tiger Shork - Added in V3.0. Removed as of V3.1 due to its design being too similar to a character from a different game.
    • It was replaced by Lantern Shork for a short time.
  • Trystan and ConeKat - Both were removed in V3.1 per request from FoxxoTrystan, via DMCA notice due to internal conflict between them and KP staff.
  • Lang, Feizao and Fashui - Removed in a mini-update prior to V3.1R due to complications with their creator.
    • Lang was originally going to be replaced by another community-created Gootraxian named Spunky. However, due to the announcement regarding the discontinuation of the Gootraxian Contributor team at the time, as well as personal Developer decision, Spunky nor any gas-related Gootraxian will replace Lang.
    • Feizao was initially replaced with Glubby in a V3.1 update.
    • Fashui has since been replaced with Dagoda in a V3.1 update.
  • Carneline, Panther and Lantern Shork - Removed in 3.1R per request from their creator due to wanting to dissociate with the genre KP is based on.
    • Carneline has been replaced by Manic.
    • Panther has been replaced by Hebi.
    • Lantern Shork has been replaced by Wisp.
  • Kawaii Shork has been replaced by Pseudo Shork in V3.1R due to it being Kawaii Shork's redesign.
    • It has been readded, though its design was revamped into a Costume for Pseudo Shork.
  • Protogen and Dark Protogen - Removed in 3.1R due to their striking resemblance to a species in the Furry Fandom of the same name.
    • Protogen will be replaced by an unnamed robotic bear Gootraxian in the future.
  • Slime Pup Dragon and Slime Dragon - Removed in the V3.1 Revamp Update due to being too similar to a concept from a different game.
  • Plantix - Removed in the V3.1R Cosmetics Update per request and complications with its creator.
    • Plantix has been replaced by Azarue.
  • Slime Pup and Slime Hound - Removed in the V3.2 April Fools Update per request by their creator due to wanting to dissociate with Kaiju Paradise.
    • They will be replaced by Shamrock and Snaptrap respectively.
  • Glubby - Removed in the V3.3 Update for unknown reasons, though likely due to mass dislike of their design from the community.
    • Glubby was replaced by Sircu in V3.3.
  • Melon Shork - To be removed per the request of Blaxor.
    • It will be replaced by an unnamed banana eel Gootraxian in the future.

Tips

The tips are based on certain players game-play and may not entirely be accurate, please keep in mind not all tips apply to certain game styles and some of these tips can cause (but not all) may require some training for.

  • Staying in groups can increase survival chances by having teammates to back you up.
    • A Hazzy with a Long Pipe in your group is strongly recommended due to the combo potential Long Pipe's ragdoll duration has when paired with Attack and Grab.
  • Using Attack on Long Pipe is advised over using grab, as attack will infect them in 4 hits as opposed to grab's 6 hits.
    • Using Grab isn't completely worthless, however, as the Long Pipe user will still take 20 damage, as well as lose 3.5 durability from their Long Pipe.
  • Try avoiding combat near the barrier, as you can accidentally run into or be knocked into it. Instead, utilize your combat at areas with a lot of hazardous props, such as Shork fins or Mocha puddles.
    • Avoid attempting this in the Crystal Cove, as the crystals there can also damage Gootraxians.
  • Evade from fights if you and your group is weaker and cannot win the fight as you can easily be killed if you’re outnumbered and out armed.
  • Using Attack on a grabbed opponent is a quick and easy way to get infects.

Trivia

  • In the previous game, The Underground Facility, the infected creatures were referred to as "Latex Monsters". Due to copyright issues with the creator of the game it was based on, it was completely shut down, with TZB Studio beginning work on Kaiju Paradise and The Final Experiment instead shortly after.
    • The only latex monsters to have been migrated from The Underground Facility to Kaiju Paradise are Charem, Protogen, Tiger Shork and Trystan.
      • All of them have been removed from the game for reasons stated under the previous heading.
    • An unreleased Gootraxian named Moth was also carried over, although it was never made public.
    • However, as of 2024, The Final Experiment development was canceled, with its elements being moved into Kaiju Paradise.
  • Prior to V3.1R, most of the face assets were made by Blaxor, although a few were made by others.
  • The meshes for Gootraxians, such as the cheek fluff or tail, were made by Ronin.
    • However, prior to V3.1R, some of the Gootraxian meshes were retextured versions of the meshes taken from certain UGC items, such as the ones from JohnDrinkin, and other creators such as Sinox's ears being a retextured version of the Pointy Fluffy Ears made by antillique.
  • A majority of the Bestiary icons prior to V3.1R were done by Mysticalesta, except for Witchbrew, which was made by YukaChaan, and Partyena, which was made by Milkshake.
    • However, in V3.1R, most of the Bestiary icons were revamped, now drawn by Milkshake, with Partyena and Kaiju's icons being revamped later in V3.2.
  • Charem and Tiger Shork were the only two Gootraxians to not have an entry within the Bestiary.
  • Zombie is the first Gootraxian to be made publicly available after previously being made with the intention of being exclusive to developer commands.
    • Despite this, Zombie still had a viewable Bestiary Entry before its proper introduction.
  • Before the V3.3 update, repeatedly hovering over entries in the Bestiary would result in the selecting sound becoming increasingly higher pitched before yielding a special effect, along with the icon pulsing.
    • A majority of the entries would make the default infection sound.
    • Nightcrawler's icon would begin to pulse rapidly and make their Pursue screeching sounds.
    • Jammer played a short clip of "JAMS" by Fishcracks.
    • Buck made a metal banging sound, matching their Throw ability.
    • Glubby and Dagoda made a slipping sound effect, matching their Slippery ability.
      • This effect was also on their predecessors, Fashui and Feizao, before their removal.
    • Slime Pup, Slime Pup Dragon, and Slime Hound all made a plushie squeak sound before their removal, with Hound's being lower pitched.
    • Protogen made a Windows XP error noise before its removal.
    • Partyena used to have the same nose honk sound effect played when another player clicks on its nose.
      • This was removed for unknown reasons in V.3.1R.
  • Various Gootraxians are able to outright kill Humans instead of infecting them. Said methods are listed below.
  • Any hair accessories being worn at the time of infection will change color depending on which Gootraxian you become.
    • Every Slime Gootraxian, Figs, Nightcrawler, Glubby, and Charem all used to remove the player's hair piece upon transformation.
      • Figs, Glubby, and Nightcrawler were all changed to not have this feature due to complaints that it made the Gootraxians uglier and less interesting..
  • Partyena, Hebi, and Banana Split Sprinklekit are the only Gootraxians to not have a designated "blinking" face. Instead, Hebi and Partyena have their tongue occasionally poking out, while Banana Split Sprinklekit simply never changes their face texture.
    • Hebi not having a blinking animation could be due to the fact that snakes, the species that they are based on, do not have eyelids, and thus are unable to blink.
    • Partyena likely does not have a blinking animation either due to the fact that their eyes are always closed, or that the Developers just thought a tongue blep would fit a silly Gootraxian like them.
    • Banana Split Sprinklekit does not have a blinking animation due to their eyes always being closed.
  • Before wall hits were made invalid, Gootraxians could grab a human on top of a shelf if they were on a lower tier, seemingly teleporting the human into the grab. This is no longer possible.
  • All Gootraxians, whilst doing the Smug or California emote, will change their faces. Jammer, as well as any player holding the Boombox item, will play a fainter version of the emote's respective songs.
  • All wearable Transmogrifying Items can be removed from the map temporarily by picking them up and resetting your character before becoming infected, as the item will despawn along with your body.
    • This can also be done by donning a Hazmat Suit, resulting in the item being launched from the player's head.
  • Gootraxians receive a damage reduction when stunned, with the damage being halved for every hit after the stun was applied. This is to prevent them from instantly dying to a large group of survivors during their stun duration.
  • In the April Fools 2024 update, the text that showed up when a Gootraxian attempted to pick up a weapon was changed to say "You can't carry any items." as opposed to the old message which mentioned the Gootraxian's "Slippery Paws". The lore was changed to the fact that Gootraxians are not intelligent enough to hold or use the weapons.
    • The reason given by Developer Flippy as to why Hazzy can still use weapons is that they watch survivors using them and learned to do it themselves.
      • Lore-wise, it is unknown as to why they can only use them while wearing a Hazmat Suit, if this is the case.

Known Bugs

NOTE: Most bugs that are noted here have been fixed and cannot be replicated in the game's current, most stable version.
Bug List
  • Wearing a certain avatar item used to allow you to get the katana as a Gootraxian. This could be done if the player rapidly switched between katana skins in the Shop.
  • This hat would not be removed upon transforming into any Gootraxian.
  • You were able to do a grab & attack combo on a Human after they escaped a grab or if you canceled it.
    • This was fixed by making the grab have a cooldown upon equipping it. However, it is still possible, although harder to do so.
  • The grab counter's click count originally lacked a limit, and it increased every time a person got grabbed. This meant that Gootraxians could keep grabbing a Human until the needed clicks to escape reached an absurd number.
    • This has been fixed with the needed clicks to escape never exceeding the 30 click count back then.
  • When a human is in its animation of being infected, they were still able to jump.
    • This can no longer happen as the infection animations have been removed, resulting in the human turning into a Gootraxian instantly.
  • There was a bug where Fashui's tail would not appear to glow during a Power Outage, but would still produce light.
  • Grab could be used to glitch people out of the map or into the void.
    • This was mostly fixed, but still happens from time to time.
  • Gootraxians will retain their kill streak as long as they don’t infect anyone, allowing them to use their kill streak on Gootraxian abilities (such as Feizao and Fashui's Slippery) despite these abilities stating that the user needs an infect streak to use them.
  • Catte's eject ability could kill the player.
    • This no longer happens currently, as the Catte no longer takes damage while ejecting the bucket.
    • This can also be caused by lag.
  • Because of a Roblox update, a bug emerged where upon a Human's weapon breaking or when an item was simply depleted, the player could not use any other item, making it impossible to attack. During this same time, you were unable to transform into Sprinklekit because you were unable to eat the required amount of ice cream.
    • Additionally, this caused grabs to also break as they would be unable to grab a Human that had either depleted one of their items, or had been grabbed by the same Gootraxian before.
  • Using Grab on a Human and pulling them into a Fashui puddle, Feizao puddle or a banana peel may cause them to fly upwards.
  • Because of the March 2022 Roblox Updates, the Nightcrawler's Pursue animation used to break halfway, preventing the player from properly engaging in a pursuit.
    • Within the same Updates, the hit sounds for Grab and Attack would sometimes not play.
  • Ragdolls or movement can affect the animation of a human being turned into any of the shorks (e.g Wisp, Lemon Shork, Pseudo Shork), ragdolls will change the angle of the player being dragged down depending on where the head is facing, and moving during the animation will cause the player to be in a running/walking animation for a brief second when the animation is finished.
    • This currently no longer happens, as the humans no longer have a transforming animation, resulting in them turning into the Gootraxian instantly without having to wait.
  • A Gootraxian's Grab ability may sometimes break, causing the Human that was being grappled to be "stuck" to the grappling Gootraxian. Neither party will take damage during this break, rendering them invincible.
  • Upon landing the killing blow on a Diamond Slime variant with a Crystalized bat would cause the Diamond Crate to bug out and not spawn in.
  • Players could become a "rainbow" Gootraxian by eating a Strange Crystal as a Slime Pup, immediately resetting, then turn into a different Gootraxian. This was patched in the May 27th, 2022 Bugfix update.
    • This same bug used to work on Humans by following the same steps as above but not turning into a Gootraxian.
  • Panthers may sometimes block scythe attacks 100% of the time, including outside of events.
  • If a Gootraxian is attacked before their grab face returns to normal, their face will be stuck on the grab face until they are attacked or attack someone else.
  • If a Human walks into a Watermelon Shork fin during an event while holding a lemon slice, they can still become a Lemon Shork despite the Gootraxian being otherwise unavailable during events.
  • If one tries to use Private Server Commands to become any removed Gootraxian, with the exception of Charem, the game will not show the usual message that appears when trying to become a removed/unavailable Gootraxian, being "Gootrax may not existed or you haven't discovered it yet."
    • This may be due to traces of in-game data of the removed Gootraxian still remaining in the code.
  • In a mistake update, Catte's new ability was released onto the main game, which simultaneously allowed all Gootraxians to pick up a Catte bucket, but they could not use the ability nor eject the bucket.
  • In most recent updates since V3.1 Hallows Eve Event, many Gootraxians have broken abilities.
    • Despite Carneline normally having a Power Outage attack buff, they do not do any extra attack damage during Power Outages.
    • Nuclear Rabbit's puddles, upon exploding, do not deal damage to Humans that walk on them.
  • Upon touching the body of a dead Gootraxian in the Flooded Area, a Shork fin would be triggered to either rip the Hazmat Suit of a player or infect them.
  • The tail animations for Shork, Lemon Shork, Kawaii Shork, Watermelon Shork and Lantern Shork no longer play.
