The Katana is a weapon featured in Kaiju Paradise. It has the appearance of a samurai's sword with a golden colored grip. Its golden variant, Daigo, is a katana blade mostly contained in a blade sheath adorned with intricate golden dragon patterns. The blade itself is black with a glowing golden edge, paired with dozens of bright golden cuts covering the entire blade.
Properties
The Katana is versatile weapon, offering both superb offensive capability and great utility. When attacking with the Katana, the player will perform a three-part combo, each slash dashing the player forwards with the last attack ending the combo with a spin-slash and entering its cooldown period, which also slows the player for its duration. The first two slashes of the combo, due to their shortened cooldown, allows for a quick switch to other weapons. Furthermore, the dash helps finish off Raytraxians and facilitates a hasty retreat if needed.
Unlike other weapons, the Katana does not incur the Omen Bar nor Stun.
Upon breaking, text at the bottom of the screen will say: "The katana snapped in half."
Daigo is intended to be used as a combo-finisher, ideally being paired with weapons with short cooldowns like the Nunchucks, Knife, or Bottle. It does a large amount of damage to any Raytraxians within range of its swing, as well as ragdolling anyone it hits, but its obscenely long cooldown and terrible durability make it risky to use by itself. Daigo is unique in the fact that it has two separate cooldowns, one for all of the player's tools and one specifically for its own swing. Using the weapon causes the user to unsheathe the katana, swinging their blade in a wide arc in front of them and freezing any Raytraxians it hits. A gold-colored slash appears in the air where the player swung for around two seconds before exploding, damaging and ragdolling away any Raytraxians caught in its swing.
Upon breaking, text at the bottom of the screen will say: "Daigo lost his sharpness."

As of V3.3, the Katana currently has 11 skins.
Obtainment
Like few other weapons, the Katana cannot be bought from Bandit's Shop and can be found around the map instead at 3 distinct locations, being at the end of the bridge in the support room, on a shelf within the garden, and inside of the testing chamber within the far east wing. At these dedicated spawns, the Katana respawns every 400 seconds (6 minutes and 40 seconds). There is a 10% chance that Bricks will spawn in place of a Katana at these spawn locations.
Daigo can be randomly obtained per 30 kill streak.

Tips
Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.
- It is recommended that you only use your final dash as an escape method if you are in combat, as the long cooldown and slowed movement speed make you a very easy-to-attack target to Raytraxians.
- Some examples of this are dashing into the spawn, through a closing door, or the opposite direction of your opponent in a fight.
- The Katana is very useful when it comes to combos, due to the katana's low cooldown from the first two swings. It is very easy to hit someone with the first two swings, then hit them with a much more powerful weapon such as an Axe or Long Pipe.
- You can also use the dash feature offensively to surprise your opponent.
- When paired with a Golden Sledgehammer, the Golden Katana and Sledgehammer combo deal a whopping 115 damage, although this combo is very hard to hit. This combo is the highest amount of damage you can deal in a public server.
- You can also use the dash feature offensively to surprise your opponent.
- It is relatively easy for Raytraxians to grab you out of your dash, so it is recommended that you aim your dash slightly to the sides of your opponent and attempt to get them to miss their attempted grab.
- Try to use two slashes and follow up with a generally stunning hit. It is not recommended to use all 3 slashes in combat due to the cooldown slowing you down and leaving you vulnerable.
- By pairing a Golden Katana and a normal Katana and alternate between their swings, you can dash up to 4 times before the final dash and wait the longer cooldown.
- If attacking with another player(s), you can use desync to stand in front of the other player's character on your screen to make them push you forwards at running pace while the cooldown is in effect. When done, this can drastically increase weapon effectiveness as it completely removes the walkspeed penalty after the third swing.
Trivia
- The Katana is one of a few weapons that received a remodel.
- Some skins, such as Cosmic Dust and Toxic Waste still retain its original model.
- Previously, Daigo had used its old model, but has since been updated to its new and current one.
- Some skins, such as Cosmic Dust and Toxic Waste still retain its original model.
- The first two swings of the Katana and the Nunchucks are tied for having the fastest cooldown of any melee weapon in the game, that being 0.7 seconds.
- As of V3.1 Hallows Eve Event, Daigo's unique hit sound effect was removed from the weapon and replaced with the default Katana hit sound.
- Seen in the KE Combat Test, the Katana will be a One-Shot capable weapon if all 3 slashes are hit in a row. However, the Katana will have a much weaker lunge, and it will cost stamina to swing it.
- The Katana's golden form in KE Combat Test lunges farther, does more damage, and takes less stamina.
Bugs
- The Katana had a known glitch that when dashing into a shorter object, such as the fences in the Main Hall, the player will fling themselves upwards.
- The Katana was affected by the anti cheat, causing it to usually miss the second/third attack due to the short cooldown, this has been fixed at the release of V3.1 Hallows Eve Event.
