Dark Protogen
Dark Protogens were the event counterpart of Protogens. Like its counterpart, they emit the same sounds when hit or killed, but their start up sounds are somewhat different and more sinister.
They are black-furred half-robotic anthropomorphic creatures that wear a black, grey and red visor on their heads, that of which has the Laminax logo on the sides. Additionally, they have dark grey neck fluff and light grey ear tufts. On its head, there is a visor with red "nanites" creating the illusion of facial expressions. Unlike the normal Protogen's nanites, these are individually modeled.
Dark Protogen has been removed as of the V3.1 Revamp Update.
Abilities
Increased Health (Passive)
Dark Protogens have an increased health of 115 HP.
Self-Destruct
Like normal Protogens, if their health is below 50%, they gain a Self Destruct function. Upon activation, they emit a beeping sound until they eventually explode, dealing 60 HP damage to all survivors in the near vicinity. If a survivor's HP is low enough, the explosion will turn them into Ghost Fox.
While self destruct is happening, their health will be set to a certain HP and they will gain more resistance to damage. Their walk speed will also be set to 20, even while grabbing.
There is a major bug in the game that causes this ability to not damage anyone under 60 HP, meaning it is impossible to kill anyone with it.

Water Damage
Dark Protogens will lose 13.5 HP every 1.5 seconds of being inside water due to electrocution.

Overcharging
If a Dark Protogen is hit by a Taser, they will play a short charging sound effect before exploding, dealing damage to, knocking back and ragdolling anybody nearby, affecting both humans and Raytraxians alike. While the damage that is dealt scales off proximity to the Dark Protogen, anyone in its blast radius will be stunned.
Acquirement
Dark Protogen used to be acquired by losing all of your health to a Dark Protogen puddle that replaces standard Protogen puddles during Power Outages and Blackouts or by being infected by another Dark Protogen Raytraxian.

Tips
Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.
- You should avoid going near the Shark Pool, Reception Desk, and the small pool in the Garden altogether as Survivors can easily ragdoll you into the water, which will likely lead to a quick death.
- It is actually possible to cross the entire Shark Pool without dying via jumping across the various props in the water and tanking the water damage through the center hallway. This is not recommended if you are in combat as it requires very precise movement, which can easily be interrupted by your opponents.
- It is not recommended that you use Self-Destruct at any point, unless you do not care about dying, as using this ability will guarantee your death at its conclusion.
- Self-Destruct can be used to effectively chase hoards of Survivors away from an area quickly, as the explosion does massive damage to anyone near it.
- One notable use for this is if a Diamond Slime has died and you want to get them away from the Crate it drops.
- Another good use of Self-Destruct is to take free infects when blowing up on unsuspecting crowds with an accomplice.
- Self-Destruct can be used to effectively chase hoards of Survivors away from an area quickly, as the explosion does massive damage to anyone near it.
Trivia
- The Dark Protogen, Protogen and Sprinklekit (and ConeKat before it was removed) are the only Raytraxians that can be hurt by water.
- The startup noise was made by Fishcracks13.
- Along with its counterpart, it has a very similar existing roblox hat.
- It, along with Slime Pup, Slime Dragon and Slime Hound are the only Raytraxians to not use textures for their faces, instead using 3D modeled parts to make the face.
- They specifically don't use textures in order to achieve the glowing effect each nanite has.
- This is not shared by their counterpart, Protogen, due to them using textured nanites.
- When hovering repeatedly in the Bestiary, it does not make the windows error sound like the Protogen.
- The Dark Protogen and its counterpart are likely based on the Protogen Furry Fandom species, created by CoolKoinu on Twitter and Fur Affinity.
- Melon Shork, Dagoda and Dark Protogen were the only Event Exclusive Raytraxians able to be obtained in both Power Outage and Blackout.
