The Underground Facility (Game)

The Underground Facility (often abbreviated to TUF) is the predecessor of Kaiju Paradise. It was based on a game made by DragonSnow, who copyrighted the game for stolen assets and content. This eventually led to the game's temporary closure before It was opened again sometime after, but only for 72 hours before permanently closing.

As of February 2022, it had 53.0k favorites and over 4.5M visits before its closure.

Gameplay

Like its successor, the game had a similar playstyle and overall goal; grab a weapon and fight off the infected or become an infected to transform the survivors.

The offered weapons within the game slightly differ from its successor, though many of them remain identical to the current set of weaponry found within Kaiju Paradise, with the most notable differences being the hitboxes and rarities of each weapon. There was also a different variety of creatures within the game, most of which came from DragonSnow's game.

Instead of having Bandit's Shop, the human's safe zone had Ed's Weapons n' Things, a shop operated by Ed, a brown Sergal. To get tokens, you had to collect toolboxes that would spawn around the map and trade them into a box near the shop. The items that Ed sold only slightly differed from the selection in Kaiju Paradise.

The map itself had a completely different layout from the one seen currently in Kaiju Paradise. Multiple locations within the facility were similar, such as hallways, flooded areas, and a cafeteria, many of which share the same or similar assets to the ones currently in KP. The game also had multiple ventilation systems that only the infected could access, providing alternative methods of travelling across the facility. Even with the major layout differences, Kaiju Paradise's Support Cave was built in direct reference to a similar location within TUF and still exists to this day.

Latex Creatures

Unlike Kaiju Paradise, TUF had a different list of entities dubbed 'Latex Creatures.' The majority of the creatures have been removed, but some were brought over from TUF to Kaiju Paradise. This list contains the 'unique' entities that were brought over to KP or were not based on existing characters from DragonSnow's game.

Closure

Upon the game re-opening for its last 72 hours, any user that joined TUF would be met with a cutscene of dialogue. The dialogue itself served to inform the players of the once-upcoming Kaiju Paradise and reads as follows:

"This is why you shouldn't steal from Thunder Science in the first place.. and what are you going to be doing about this mess?"	"..."

Trivia

• Originally, the experience was meant to be for roleplaying rather than PvP.
• Before Ed was added, the previous store owner was a Black Latex Wolf named Puro, a character directly from DragonSnow's game.
  • Instead of trading in toolboxes, players would instead trade in orange fruits.
• The facility in TUF was named "LAMINAX Laboratories."
  • This name carried over to KP's facility before also being used as part of the official group's name, LAMINAX CO.
• The former owner got the idea of TUF in 2018 but the actual development of TUF started in early 2020.
  • However, it was almost decided to be scrapped until Flip came and helped with the experience.
  • After 3 months, Blaxor stepped in to help out too.
• Despite the game's closure, certain people were still able to access and play the experience.
  • This can no longer be done, as players now get kicked from the experience with the reason "Game is unavailable" or "You do not have permission to join this experience."
• The game has since been renamed to "Archived game."
• The Shork is the only remaining creature in Kaiju Paradise that also existed in TUF.
  • Every other creature has since been removed or remains unused.
