"You feel as if you are invincible..."
Template:Gootraxian Nightcrawler is a Blackout-exclusive Gootraxian in Kaiju Paradise.
The Nightcrawler is a lizard like Gootraxian, being mostly grey colored with a black leaf-like or scar-like patterns on its ears and limbs. It has a unique purple pattern on the front of its torso and the bottom of its tail that glows during Blackouts. The Nightcrawler wears 3-lensed night vision goggles that glow a faint purple alongside a waist belt of pouches and a singular blowtorch. It wears a pair of black gloves.
Abilities
Unlike any other Gootraxian seen in the game, it has two unique moves: Pummel and Pursue.
Player-infected Nightcrawlers do not have the same unique abilities as a goggled Nightcrawler and will instead have 110 HP along with the standard Gootraxian abilities (Grab & Attack).
Pummel
Pummel works similar to a Katana. It is a 'combo'-like type of ability, allowing Nightcrawlers to attack survivors 3 times in quick succession with the last attack having a slightly longer cooldown. Unlike the Katana however, it will not slow the Nightcrawler down. During Blackouts, the last attack will make the Nightcrawler dash forward.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 23 |
| Cooldown | 0.75 seconds |
| Combo Cooldown | 2.75 seconds |
| Range | 11 studs |
| Effects | Dash (BO), Combo |
Pursue
Pursue is the Nightcrawler's signature move. The ability has a 30 second cooldown.
Pursue is divided into three stages: First is the preparation stage, where the Nightcrawler slams their fists into the ground and causes nearby survivors to be ragdolled. Shortly after this begins the second stage, where the Nightcrawler begins to sprint wherever the camera is facing. You cannot control its movements in this state and can only move your camera around to guide the direction of the pursuit. If the Nightcrawler collides with a survivor, it will damage, knockback, and ragdoll them. The final stage begins near the end of the pursuit, in which, should the Nightcrawler come into contact with a survivor, will cause the survivor to be grabbed by the neck, lifted off the ground and punched away, dealing heavy amounts of damage and ragdolling the survivor. Said survivor will then act as a projectile, damaging and ragdolling any user that is hit by them for a few seconds. If a survivor dies to the punch, they will not be turned into a Nightcrawler and will instead die and eventually respawn. If there are no nearby survivors to collide with during this stage, the pursuit will simply end.
| Stat | Value | Stat | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Preparation Stage | 4.25 seconds | Slam Damage | 13 |
| Pursue Stage | 3.5 seconds | Trample Damage | 20 |
| Grab Stage | 4 seconds | Grab Damage | 61 |
| Shortest length of Pursue | 7.75 seconds | Full length of Pursue | 11.75 seconds |
| Effects | Non-infectious, Knockback |
Rage
Exclusive to Goggled Nightcrawlers, they have a "Rage" system where they need to keep their rage bar above 0% by fighting, or else they start losing 5 HP per second. They can have a maximum of 300% when there are no Blackouts, and a maximum of 600% during one.
In order for a Nightcrawler obtain passive regeneration, the rage bar needs to be kept above 400% during a Blackout. Otherwise, however, it only needs to stay above 200%. Nightcrawler has an increased passive regeneration rate of 1.5 HP per second.
Using Pursue causes 75% of the rage bar to deplete.
While rage bar is active, Lost Judgment OST - "Fog" from Lost Judgment's Soundtrack is played in the background.
Health Buff
Goggled Nightcrawlers have a huge health pool of 800 HP. They can passively regenerate if they have the necessary rage, They can also heal through infecting with Pummel healing 20 HP upon infection during Blackouts and 10 HP otherwise.
Retaliate (Passive)
NOTE: This attack is currently non-functional; however, a fix is in the works.
Upon losing 100 health in under 1.5 seconds, the Nightcrawler will stomp on the ground, sending nearby players into a ragdoll and dealing 12 damage. Retaliate requires 15 rage to function.
Block (Blackout Passive)
During Blackouts, Fireaxes and Scythes will be dodged, yielding the text "Seems like they managed to evade your axe/scythe swing..", and reducing the damage dealt by 90%, resulting in both the Fireaxe and Scythe dealing a meager 4 damage. Evaded attacks will not slow the Nightcrawler nor ragdoll them.
Acquirement
Nightcrawler can be obtained by finding a pair of Goggles around the map.
The goggles can only spawn randomly around the map during Blackouts next to or nearby weapon and item spawns. They have a 60% chance to spawn each Blackout in public servers. It is always guaranteed to spawn in private servers.
If the goggles are to spawn, they will do so 6 minutes and 15 seconds into a Blackout; otherwise referred to as the beat drop of the 2nd song.
You can also obtain it by being infected by another Nightcrawler Gootraxian, but you will not have the goggles, and will not have the unique abilities of a Goggled Nightcrawler.

|-|Kaiju Engine Combat Test=

The following feature(s) is/are currently exclusive to the Kaiju Engine Combat Test game.
"You begin feeling an incessant rage."
Template:Gootraxian Nightcrawler is a non-event Gootraxian in the Kaiju Engine.
Abilities
Unlike any other Gootraxian seen in the game, it has two unique moves: Pummel and Goggle.
Player-infected Nightcrawlers do not have the same unique abilities as a goggled Nightcrawler and will instead have 100 HP along with the standard Gootraxian tool, Attack.
Pummel
Pummel works similarly to its 3.1 counterpart, having a shorter cooldown and longer range compared to Attack. In the KE test, Pummel's third swing combo has been completely removed, making it function closer to a Knife rather than a Katana.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 23 |
| Cooldown | 0.6 seconds |
| Range | 12.5 studs |
Goggle
Goggle is the Nightcrawler's new move in the KE Test, replacing Pursue as its second ability.
Unlike Pursue, however, Goggle is not a combat-oriented ability. Instead, it gives the nightcrawler a sort of "Night-Vision", allowing it to see opponents across the map, even in dark environments. It covers the player's screen in a color filter that reduces the entire game to a simple black-and-purple color pallet. This filter surrounds opponents in a black fog, while outlining their exact shape in bright purple.

Health Buff
Goggled Nightcrawlers have a large health pool of 200 HP.
Acquirement
Nightcrawler can be obtained by finding a pair of Goggles that spawn inside supply crates dropped randomly around the map at specific intervals. This will not happen if a Goggled Nightcrawler is already alive.
After transforming successfully into a Nightcrawler, the song "VIOLET BREAKTHROUGH" will start playing. Players who attack a Nightcrawler will also hear this song.
You can also obtain it by being infected by another Nightcrawler Gootraxian, but you will not have the goggles, and will not have the unique abilities of a Goggled Nightcrawler. </tabber>
Trivia
- Nightcrawlers are one of the only few Gootraxians who can outright kill survivors.
- In this case, they can do so by using their Pursue ability.
- After you successfully transform into a Nightcrawler you won't be able to reset.
- Despite natural regeneration being locked behind their Rage passive, Goggled Nightcrawlers can still naturally heal if a Slime Pup is on their back, albeit slowly.
- It is the second Gootraxian in the game that doesn't have the usual abilities such as grab & attack, the first being the Slime Pup.
- However, player-derived Nightcrawlers will have the standard abilities.
- The only weapons that can ragdoll Nightcrawlers during Blackouts are Bricks, Bottle and the Golden Bottle.
- If you use
:tf me nightcrawlerin private servers, you will transform into a goggle-less Nightcrawler.- This can be changed by including
;goggle=trueon the initial command.
- This can be changed by including
- Goggled Nightcrawlers have the highest health pool out of all Gootraxians, excluding Diamond Slime variants, with a total of 800 HP.
- Nightcrawler is the only Gootraxian so far to have appeared in the game's thumbnail despite having not been released for the time it appeared.
- They were heavily inspired by the Cloaker from the Payday franchise.
- In previous versions of the game, using the command
;cloaker=trueon par with Nightcrawler's:tfcommand in private servers gave the Nightcrawler Cloaker's voice lines. - Additionally, its festive outfit bears strong resemblances to the Cloaker's outfit.
- In previous versions of the game, using the command
- Nightcrawler's faces were slightly different when it was still unreleased.
- It is currently the only known Gootraxian to have more than one contributor create its concept.<ref>https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/858029724664463400/1001441391488020580/ooo_spooky_lizard.png Each contributor's contribution to Nightcrawler, March 3 2022.</ref>
- ButteredPancakes made its initial design.
- Mysticalesta created its concept art.
- Kos assisted in its design.
- Kazuko gave the idea of its species.
- Chroma suggested its current name.
- According to one of the contributors, its design is heavily inspired and based on Salazzle from the Pokémon franchise.
- Goggled Nightcrawlers are one of the only few Gootraxians whose Bestiary entry is unlocked right after infection, and is also one of few Gootraxians who have multiple ways of unlocking its Bestiary entry.
- A Goggle-less Nightcrawler has to obtain a 10 infect streak in order to unlock its Bestiary entry.
- Players can kill the Goggled Nightcrawler to unlock its Bestiary entry.
- However, only the player that has landed the last hit on it will unlock the entry if they do not already have it.
- Despite Goggled Nightcrawlers being considered a mini boss, they still drop 30 credits upon death.
- Similarly to Jammer's Diversion tooltip being used as Feizao and Fashui's Slippery tooltip at one point, Nightcrawler's Pursue used to share the same tooltip as Protogen and Dark Protogen's Self Destruct.
- Hovering over the Nightcrawler's icon in the Bestiary repeatedly will play the Nightcrawler's Pursue sound effect, as well as cause its icon to violently shake.
- When a player picks up the goggles, the Blackout will extend by 50 seconds, and after transforming, it will last an additional 550 seconds, adding up to 1300 seconds (21 minutes 40 seconds) as opposed to 750 seconds (12 minutes 30 seconds).
- Goggled Nightcrawlers were able to block Bottle while in a Blackout, attempting to hit Nightcrawlers with a Bottle would deal a pitiful 1 damage, yield the text "There's no effect..", and ragdoll the attacking player, dealing 30 damage in retaliation.
- In an update, the Nightcrawler’s health was reduced to 600 so it was easier for humans to kill the nightcrawler.
Bugs
- The Pummel was affected by the anti-cheat, causing it to usually miss the second/third attack due to the short cooldown, this has been fixed at the release of V3.1 Hallows Eve Event.
- Oddly enough, Pursue's ability to break doors also applies to locker doors. In the past, it would play the animation, but the door would still remain intact. This has since been changed to break the doors.
