Ghost Fox

Template:Gootraxian Ghost Fox is a light blue fox spirit Gootraxian with two large, fluffy tails. Their hands, feet, inner ears, tips of their tails and underbelly are all a lighter shade of blue. Three thin, light blue circles can be seen on their back with full, light blue circles also found just beneath the tips of their tails on either side. Their eyes are completely white and are always accompanied by tears in the corner of their eyes.

Abilities

Invisibility

Note: This ability is currently non-functional. When a Ghost Fox gets hit, they become transparent and can phase through players for 3 seconds.

After that, it takes about 10 seconds before it can be done again. They can still slightly be seen during this state.

Dash

Also known as Lightning Lunge. While a Ghost Fox has attack or grab equipped, they can press G on their keyboard if they are on PC, or a UI button if they are on Mobile, in order to do a short dash forward, similar to a Katana.

While this dash occurs, the player is immune to all damage, and any Survivor between where the dash started and where it ended will be stunned for a short time. The dash is also able to phase the user through any door in their path, with the only exception being the doors attached to lockers, and the door to the Purification Bunker.

There must be some space in front of the user to dash, as otherwise the player will not be able to dash at all. After the ability is used, the player will also be slowed to a walking pace for a short period of time, and cannot attack for the duration of being slowed.

Taser Immunity

If a Ghost Fox is hit by a Taser, they will heal 30 HP instead of taking damage. Knockback and omen are not applied, and the "Dash" ability is not recharged.

Acquirement

Ghost Fox can be obtained by stepping into any body of water with the Taser equipped, dying to a Protogen's self-destruct before removal, or by being infected by another Ghost Fox Gootraxian.

Tips

Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.

• It is very hard for Survivors to see you during Power Outages and Blackouts due to the low light levels around the map. If you want to avoid being seen as efficiently as possible, it is recommended that you try to avoid objects that produce light altogether, such as slime puddles and Cave Crystals.
• Due to how hard it is to see you when you're invisible, it is recommended that you have a Slimepup by your side that can bite you to manually trigger your invisibility in order to sneak around players.
• If you turn invisible while holding a Torch, the torch will also turn invisible. However, if you turn invisible and then equip the Torch, it will still be fully visible and will appear to float in midair.
• Due to Ghost Fox's ability to phase through doors, it is very beneficial to use "Dash" ability on doors that take a long time to get through, such as the big gates leading to the caves or the double layered doors in the garden.

Bestiary Entry

Appearing to resemble ghostly spirits wandering the Laminax facility, Ghost Foxes are timid Gootraxians that tend to stray away from light and use their translucent, incorporeal bodies to hide away from attackers that may attempt to harm them. While mostly gaseous, they are capable of discharging hefty shocks of electricity, and use them to incapacitate those they want to infect. However, they seem to fear humans and tend to only fight back in self-defense. Be careful handling any tasers you may find around the facility and try not to drop them in water.

Trivia

• Ghost Fox, Toxic Rabbit, Witchbrew, Hazzy, and Trystan (before it was removed) are the only Gootraxians so far to have more than 2 ways of being acquired, with having 3.
  • Out of these five, it and Toxic Rabbit are the only ones that involve dying to a different Gootraxian.
• Ghost Fox was heavily inspired by its creator's interest in the horror genre.
  • Ghost Fox itself was inspired by a glitched fox NPC in a myth game named "Ghost fox".
• Excluding Ghost Slime variants, it is the only Gootraxian so far that can turn nearly invisible upon being hit.
• The Ghost Fox's first redesign was released on V3.1.
• It is one of the few Gootraxians to receive a new ability after their public release.
  • This ability, Lightning Lunge, was first added in the V3.1 Hallows Eve Event exclusively for the Experimental Build, before being introduced into the main game in a January 2023 mini update.
  • Its idea comes from their Bestiary entry, which mentions how they are able to discharge electric shocks.
• Its first bestiary icon appeared to heavily resemble its pre-v3.1 design, as evidenced by the fur color and the lack of tears.
  • However, its mouth was also absent, causing it to be "expressionless".
