The Sledgehammer is a weapon in Kaiju Paradise. It has the appearance of a hammer with a long wooden handle and a black colored attachment at the end. Its golden variant, William, is a sledgehammer made of solid gold with black accents, paired with a black riot shield in the wielder's left hand.

Properties

It deals the highest damage in the game currently in terms of a single hit and ragdolls only on direct hits. Otherwise, on an indirect hit, it deals a modest amount of splash damage and stuns Raytraxians instead. It's slow swing makes it harder to land consistent direct hits, making it more suited for direct hits on stunned or ragdolled players.

Despite having the highest damage, it also currently has the longest weapon cooldown in the game, tied with the Long Pipe, as such the Sledgehammer rewards precise, direct hits with heavy damage.

Upon breaking, text at the bottom of the screen will say: "The hammer snapped in half."

William is a very well rounded weapon, having high damage and low cooldown, along with the ability to parry almost any form of incoming damage.

Upon breaking, text at the bottom of the screen will say: "William lost his bruteness."

  • The Sledgehammer does not posses a special sound for hitting a target, and shares the same breaking sound effect with the Axe, Knife, Machete, Katana and the Crowbar.

As of V3.3.1, the Sledgehammer currently has 8 skins.

Obtainment

The Sledgehammer can be found around the map in various locations. It cannot be bought from Bandit's Shop.

William can only be obtained by getting a 30 kill streak with a Sledgehammer used for the 30th kill.

Tips

Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.

  • Due to it's high damage upon a direct hit, it's recommended to prioritize hitting stunned opponents, as they cannot move out of the way of your swing.
    • Try swapping to the Sledgehammer after hitting an enemy with Bricks or after successfully knocking an enemy off a crystal, allowing for an easy critical hit.
    • The cooldown and stun for the Bottle is also long enough to land a free critical hit without help.
      • The Sledgehammer rewards teamwork, and your enemies won't stun themselves, so consider sticking with a teammate to consistently get critical hits. A Long Pipe and Sledgehammer make for a nasty combo.
  • Note that it's possible to burn durability even if you miss, as durability is burned so long as the weapon hits the floor.
    • You can prevent an unwanted loss of durability on an accidental swing by jumping, as it will not lose durability if it doesn't hit the floor.
  • Make sure you're on even ground, as sometimes a slight change in elevation will completely stop your swing.
  • You can use its area effect to stun or kill enemies fleeing just ahead of you. Thanks to its range, it can catch up to other players just out of reach.
  • Recommended to use this weapon when fighting mobs of enemies. The unlimited amount of targets able to be hit combined with the area effect while eliminating the need to get too close to enemies renders this weapon amongst the best at dealing with crowds.

Trivia

  • The Sledgehammer is one of the only few melee weapons that do not have hitbox points in Debug Mode.
    • It is also able to lose durability without hitting another player.
  • The Sledgehammer was able to be purchased in the Shop at one point, but it has since been removed.
  • It is possible to score a critical hit on a moving enemy with the Sledgehammer, however it is difficult to pull off. The difficulty almost always pays off from the massive amounts of damage to an enemy while ragdolling them, allowing teammates to catch up.
    • To land a critical hit on an enemy in motion, you have to swing the Sledgehammer a few studs ahead of the player's visual character to land directly on them. Range may vary depending on target's speed and server connection.
  • It is possible to free yourself from a grab using the Sledgehammer if you correctly time the swing with the grab animation.
