The Katana is a weapon featured in Kaiju Paradise. It has the appearance of a samurai's sword with a golden colored grip.

Properties

The Katana is versatile weapon, offering both superb offensive capability and great utility. When attacking with the Katana, the player will perform a three-part combo, each slash dashing the player forwards with the last attack ending the combo with a spin-slash and entering its cooldown period, which also slows the player for its duration. The first two slashes of the combo, due to their shortened cooldown, allows for a quick switch to other weapons. Furthermore, the dash helps finish off Gootraxians and facilitates a hasty retreat if needed.

Unlike other weapons, the Katana does not incur the Omen Bar nor Stun.

Upon breaking, text at the bottom of the screen will say: "The katana snapped in half."

As of V3.1, the Katana currently has 6 skins.

Obtainment

Like the Sledgehammer, the Katana cannot be bought from Abble's Shop and can be found around the map instead at 4 distinct locations, being at the end of the bridge in the support room, underneath a stairway in the secret room, on a shelf within the garden, and inside of the testing chamber within the far east wing. At these dedicated spawns, the Katana respawns every 400 seconds (6 minutes and 40 seconds), or alternatively by chance in general item and weapon spawns, every 180 seconds (3 minutes). |-|Golden=

The Golden Katana is a weapon featured in Kaiju Paradise. It has the katana's appearance, but golden, sporting a soft glow and sparkles.

Properties

The Golden Katana is the best weapon in-game for more aggressive play as it has a considerable damage buff, but despite this it has less durability than the normal Katana. Like its non-golden version, it features a three-hit combo, but due to its faster cooldowns for its first two swings, it is slightly more effective. It can also be used in conjunction with a normal Katana, allowing for a damage potential upwards of 100 damage in two slashes from both weapons.

Upon breaking, text at the bottom of the screen will say: "The golden katana snapped in half."

Obtainment

The Golden Katana can be obtained by killing a Golden Slime variant or obtained by the randomly dropped gold weapon. </tabber>

Tips

Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.

• It is recommended that you only use your final dash as an escape method if you are in combat, as the long cooldown and slowed movement speed make you a very easy-to-attack target to Gootraxians.
  • Some examples of this are dashing into the spawn, through a closing door, or the opposite direction of your opponent in a fight.
• The Katana is very useful when it comes to combos, due to the katana's low cooldown from the first two swings. It is very easy to hit someone with the first two swings, then hit them with a much more powerful weapon such as an Axe or Scythe.
  • When paired with a Golden Sledgehammer, the Golden Katana and Sledgehammer combo deal a whopping 115 damage, although this combo is very hard to hit. This combo is the highest amount of damage you can deal in a public server.
• It is relatively easy for Gootraxians to grab you out of your dash, so it is recommended that you aim your dash slightly to the sides of your opponent and attempt to get them to miss their attempted grab.
• If you have a normal katana and the golden counterpart, you can use the first two swings of each to travel great distances.
  • However, you will have to wait out the cooldown of both katanas, which may massively hinder you and make you an easy target.

Trivia

• The Katana is one of a few weapons that received a remodel.
  • Some skins, such as Cosmic Dust and Toxic Waste, and even its goldified counterpart still retains its original model.
    • The golden katana has since been updated, and now uses the current model.
• The Katana, along with the Scythe, have been planned to be removed from TFE once it is released. <ref>https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/858029724664463400/1018068317048688671/unknown.png Katana & Scythe's planned removal, stated by developer Yuka.</ref>
• The first two swings of the Katana have the lowest cooldown of all the melee weapons in the game, the Golden Bottle's swing being second place in terms of cooldown at 0.8 seconds.
• By having a Golden Katana and a normal Katana and switching between them for every swing, you can dash up to 5 times.
