Buck

From Kaiju Paradise Official Wiki

"A strange looking bucket has suddenly been placed on top of you.."

Template:Gootraxian Bucks are a Blackout-exclusive Gootraxian and the blackout variant of Catte.

They resemble a cat, with grey fur and a black underbelly. Black stripes run along their arms and legs and they sport purple horns and spines, similar to Carneline, which emit a faint, purple glow in the dark. They also have small purple markings under their eyes.

Abilities

Increased Health (Passive)

Bucks have significantly more HP other Gootraxians, boasting 130 HP for Bucks derived from Cattes. Bucks that were infected by pre-existing Bucks instead have 115 HP in total<ref>https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/510886407770734645/992364845615808603/unknown.png Update log message of HP nerf, originally having 150 HP, December 11 2021.</ref>.

Throw

Unlike Catte, they do not drop their buckets upon death. They have the ability to throw their bucket, dealing 35 damage to the target as well as flinging and ragdolling whoever it may hit. Anytime the bucket is thrown, however, 25 damage will be dealt to the Buck. The latter only works if they have the required headgear. Otherwise, they cannot perform the action and have to obtain another black bucket.

If a Buck with low health attempts to throw their bucket, the text "Your health is way too low.." will appear, preventing them from killing themselves via the ability.

Acquirement

Bucks can be obtained by finding and wearing a black bucket while already playing as a Catte Gootraxian. It may also be obtained via infection from another Buck Gootraxian, however, you will not be wearing a bucket unless you obtain one during a Blackout.

Trivia

  • Prior to receiving a nerf and the addition of the Nightcrawler, Bucks had the highest amount of health in the game for a non-Slime Gootraxian at 150 HP.
  • Bucks are one of the only few Gootraxians who can outright kill survivors.
    • In this case, they can do so by using their buckets. However, without their appropriate bucket, they will be unable to do so outside of Blackouts.
  • Bucks are the first Gootraxian to have a unique or complicated way of obtainment.
    • The low health requirement in order to be infected was removed, making the process of obtaining Buck easier.
  • Originally, normal Bucks lose their purple crystals upon a Blackout ending. If one were to be infected by a Buck outside of the event, they will keep the crystals. It is unknown if this is intentional.
    • This has recently been changed to Bucks' crystals staying even after a Blackout ends, and its face only glowing during one and Power Outages.
  • Bucks are one of two Gootraxians who have multiple ways of unlocking their Bestiary entry, with the other being Nightcrawler.
  • They are one of few Gootraxians to have a unique Bestiary sound effect.
    • In this case, it plays the sound used when someone gets hit by their bucket. (This sound is also used for a variety of other things, such as being hit by Pipes)
  • They are the only Gootraxian who's ability is able to be used outside of the event they originate from, but cannot use it again after using it once outside of the event.
    • Bucks are able to throw their bucket outside of a Blackout, but are unable to obtain another bucket until one happens.
