Dark Protogen

Template:Gootraxian Dark Protogens are the event counterpart of Protogens. Like its counterpart, they emit the same sounds when hit or killed, but their start up sounds are somewhat different and more sinister.

As its name states, it is mostly black. On its head, there is a visor with red "nanites" creating the illusion of facial expressions. Unlike the normal Protogen's nanites, these are individually modeled.

Abilities

Dark Protogens have an increased health of 115 HP.

Self-Destruct

Like normal Protogens, if their health is below 50%, they gain a Self Destruct function. Upon activation, they emit a beeping sound until they eventually explode, dealing 60 HP<ref>https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/510886407770734645/992718877878403112/unknown.png Update log of self-destruct's damage buff, July 8 2021.</ref> damage to all survivors in the near vicinity. If a survivor's HP is low enough, the explosion will turn them into Ghost Fox.

While self destruct is happening, their health will be set to a certain HP and they will gain more resistance to damage. Their walk speed will also be set to 20, even while grabbing.

There is a major bug in the game that causes this ability to not damage anyone under 60 HP, meaning it is impossible to kill anyone with it.

Water Damage

Their health will drain if they are in water every 1.5 seconds<ref>https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/510886407770734645/992718878343954472/unknown.png Update log of Protogen water damage cooldown, September 26 2021.</ref> due to electrocution.

Acquirement

Dark Protogen can be acquired by losing all of your health to a Dark Protogen puddle during Power Outages, Blackouts or by being infected by another Dark Protogen Gootraxian.

Tips

Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.

• You should avoid going near the Shark Pool, Reception Desk, and the small pool in the Garden altogether as Survivors can easily ragdoll you into the water, which will likely lead to a quick death.
  • It is actually possible to cross the entire Shark Pool without dying via jumping across the various props in the water and tanking the water damage through the center hallway. This is not recommended if you are in combat as it requires very precise movement, which can easily be interrupted by your opponents.
• It is not recommended that you use Self-Destruct at any point, unless you do not care about dying, as using this ability will guarantee your death at its conclusion.
  • Self-Destruct can be used to effectively chase hoards of Survivors away from an area quickly, as you are faster than them after using it and the explosion does massive damage to anyone near it.
    • One notable use for this is if a Diamond Slime has died and you want to get them away from the Crate it drops.

Trivia

• The Dark Protogen, Protogen and Sprinklekit (and Conekat before it was removed) are the only Gootraxians that can be hurt by water.
• The startup noise was made by Fishcracks<ref>https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/510886407770734645/992718878532706344/unknown.png Update log of Protogens' new start up sound, July 18 2021.</ref>.
• Along with its counterpart, it has a very similar existing roblox hat.
• It, along with Slime Pup, Dragon Pup and Slime Hound are the only gootraxians to not use textures for their faces, instead using 3D modeled parts to make the face.
  • They specifically don't use textures in order to achieve the glowing effect each nanite has.
  • This is not shared by their counterpart, Protogen, due to them not needing the nanites to glow.
• When hovering repeatedly in the bestiary, it does not make the windows error sound like the Protogen.
