Kaiju

From Kaiju Paradise Official Wiki

Template:Gootraxian Kaijus are the titular Gootraxians in Kaiju Paradise.

They appear to be large, dark-blue reptilian humanoids with a lighter blue underbelly and glowing, blue crystal spines running along their backs and tail. They have very blue colored eyes with light blue irises, a bright light blue tongue and dark blue claws on their lighter blue hands and feet.

Abilities

Increased Health (Passive)

Kaijus have much more health compared to other Gootraxians, with a total of 125 HP.

Larger Size (Passive)

Kaijus are slightly larger in size compared to other Gootraxians, being 1.1x larger.

Rare Item Drops

Upon death, they have a 1/8 (12.5%) chance to drop a Kaiju Basher. They also have a chance to drop a Strange Crystal, but this chance varies depending on how high the Kaiju's infect streak was before dying, the higher the streak, the higher the chance. A Strange Crystal will only have the potential to drop after 3 infects, and is guaranteed to drop at 20 infects or more.

The chance for the Strange Crystal works as so:

<math>15 + [(Streak - 3) * 5] = Random</math>

<math>Random</math> = Generated number from 0 - 100, effectively operates the percentage chance.
<math>Streak</math> = Player's current infection streak. It must be 3 or higher to have any chance to drop a strange crystal.<ref>https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/858029724664463400/992228955224551435/crystal_math.png Strange Crystal drop rate formula, December 19 2021.</ref>

Ion Beam

Kaiju can fire up an Ion Beam that comes from their mouth, dealing with incredible damage to targets that are directly exposed to it, dealing around 33 damage per second. The Ion Beam has a 5 second charge-up before the ion beam starts blasting for 15 seconds. Kaiju is immune to damage but cannot move and has a slow turn-speed during the use of the ability.

Targets that are hit with the Ion Beam will be inflicted with a 5 second burn damage, dealing 3 damage per second.

Kaiju's charge-up can be interrupted and stopped by any weapon that inflicts stun, though it'll only interrupt the ability if Kaiju's omen bar is active. When Kaiju performs the Ion Beam, a muffled laser beam sound will emit from their character.

Acquirement

Kaiju can be obtained via infection through the blue crystals in the Crystal Caves, standing in the Caves for too long or being infected by another Kaiju.

Mutation

If standing in the lower part of the Crystal Caves for too long as a human, they will start losing HP and crystals will start to grow on their body near death which remain after turning into a Kaiju. The crystals are in random places of the body each time.

Bestiary Entry

A giant lizard-like creature that slowly has crystals growing outside of it's back. These crystals may vary in size and placement, but are mostly seen along the back of the creature.
Kaijus tend to be passive aggressive, and are very territorial. These tanky creatures tend to attack when provoked, but if you keep your distance, they will leave you be... most of the time.
The crystals in the main cave are actually shed scales that built up overtime. Touching any of those scales appear to be infectious, be careful of them.
Kaijus love spending time in the crystal caves or near water. While they do not swim often, they have shown to be very mobile in water and almost more aggressive.
Refrain from going near any of the large blue crystals inside the cave.

Trivia

  • Kaiju were one of the first Gootraxians available since Kaiju Paradise's first public release.
    • The concept art for Kaiju was posted in the game's official Discord server on February 22 2021. See the "Gallery" section for the concept art.
  • They are also one of four Gootraxians to have a different size value, the others being Slime Pup (being 0.8), Slime Dragon (being 0.85) and Witchbrew (being 0.85).
  • Due to Kaiju's size, Kaiju is unable to take advantage of floor level environmental hazards. However, this also means it's possible for Kaiju to instantly infect or deal unreduced damage on hazards to players who escape their grab.
  • Currently, it's one of few Gootraxians to have costumes, these being the Classic Kaiju and the Flaming Kaiju.
    • The Flaming Kaiju was originally planned to be a separate gootraxian before being repurposed into a costume for the Kaiju.
  • Kaiju is one of the only Gootraxians to outright kill other Gootraxians.
    • The only other Gootraxian that could also kill fellow Gootraxians are Slime Pups.
  • Kaiju's Ion Beam can damage other vending machines, much like Hazzy's weapons.
  • When Kaiju performs the Ion Beam ability, an unique face can be seen (See Gallery, Expressions for the face images), which is similar to the Grab face, but with the eyes and mouth fully open and the pupils completely slit.
    • This can be also seen in the Bestiary icon when hovered.
  • This is one of the Gootraxians to have an unique idle animation, with the other being Fed, Shade and Nightshade, and Jammer
    • Due to this, when standing still while facing forward, it's head is seen slightly looking to the right.
    • Oddly, when closely looking at the animation, it seems to have a very low amount of keyframes.
  • When Kaiju uses the Ion Beam ability, there are 2 animations, one with the arms forward, and another with the arms back.
    • Oddly, the ending animations are swapped together.

Bugs

  • There was a bug in which the character model for the Kaiju would lose it's head details and go "bald" after resizing.
  • Currently, there's a bug where, if you have a Catte bucket or a Fed fedora on your head and then turn into a Kaiju, you will have delayed controls and get stuck inside said transmogrifying item until it despawns.
