Slime Pup

Template:Gootraxian The Slime Pups are one of the main Gootraxians in Kaiju Paradise.

They are small, quadruped, dog-like creatures made of a type of slime with a eyes and eyebrow on the facial mask, tinted to whatever color variant they are. They come in many colors, such as red, white, lime, and cyan.

Abilities

Wearing Cones

Slime Pups can wear certain objects on their heads like a hat. Currently, only the yellow cones are wearable. Wearing a "hat" increases their max health by 15 HP, giving regular variants 95 max HP total.

Bite

Slime Pups can bite every 4 seconds, dealing 11 damage to Humans and and 5.5 damage to Gootraxians. The target is shown the following dialogue upon being bitten:

• Ouch! A slime pup bit you..

If the Slime Pup tries to bite again within the cooldown it will show the following dialogue:

• So tired.. I need to take [num. of seconds remaining] seconds break first.

Steal

Slime Pups can steal and hold various items from Humans. The ability can used every 15 seconds. However, the Slime Pup's jump cooldown will increase by 1.5 seconds while holding a stolen item. They cannot steal items from Humans wearing a Hazmat Suit. If a Slime Pup holding an item is attacked, or clicks on the screen while holding an item, the item will be dropped, allowing other players to grab the item. Slime Pups are also unable to use items they have stolen, and stolen items will not appear in the pup's inventory.

The target is shown the following dialogue upon losing an item to a pup:

• A slime pup stole your [Item]..

And in a 1/60 chance (~1.67% in percentages) to show this instead:

• A slime pup ran your pockets..

Slime Pups used to be able to steal Pipes and Axes, but this ability was removed for unknown reasons.

Eat

Slime Pups can eat food to restore HP, being able to do so every 10 seconds. However, eating a lemon or shaken cola will instead damage the Slime Pup (as well as fling and ragdoll the pup if a shaken cola was eaten). Eating a Strange Crystal will eventually transform the Slime Pup into a Rainbow Slime Pup.

Sleep

Slime Pups can sleep which contrary to popular belief, does not increase regeneration. However, it does lower their hitbox making them much harder to hit.

Variants

Golden

Golden Slime Pups have 600 HP. Upon death, Golden Slime Pups will drop 2.5k to whoever landed the killing blow and turn the weapon that it was killed with into a golden version of it, as well as dropping up to 2 random golden weapons. If the player that killed the golden variant has done so for the first time, the player will recieve the Cruel Act badge. If the Golden leaves the game, a golden grave with 300 HP will spawn and function similar to them in order to get the rewards, but you cannot use the Chainsaw to break the grave. The Golden itself won't be able to see or interact with the grave if they rejoin.

The Gold Pup Chance System is as follows:
(3 - # of rare variants) * 1.66

Diamond

Diamond Slime Pups have 900 HP. When hit, they drop credits that scale to the amount of damage dealt to them. They also drop 1,000 to whoever landed the killing blow as and send out a flurry of more credits that other players can pick up, as well as a Diamond Crate. The amount of credits showered out scales to the amount of players in the server and each ticket worth 20 - 25 . Upon leaving, they will still drop a Diamond Crate along with the standard flurry of credits.

The Credit Scaling System is as follows:
If <math>Player Amount</math> is less than 17 then the credit amount would instantly be 35.
Otherwise, it will be <math>(Player Amount * 3)</math> instead.

The Diamond Pup Chance System is as follows:
(3 - # of rare variants) * .5

These rare variants are unable to die by running into the forcefield in the spawn area, getting crushed by the gates or by resetting. They are unable to restore their HP entirely under normal circumstance such as eating food or by regenerating HP over time. They also cannot use the ride tool on any players. Any attempt of the rare variants using the command "!rejoin" will instead message the user in the chat: "[SERVER]: You cannot escape."

Acquirement

There are 7 common Slime color variants and 3 rare variants.

In private servers, they can all be obtained by using the command :tf me Slimepup;color=[color].

Otherwise, lose all your health to the blue puddles in Crystal Caves, The color of it will change to red and white during Power Outages and Blackouts respectively.

Normal/Event

Normal Slime Pups are obtained by losing all of your HP to the blue puddles on the floor of the facility and in the cave. Doing this during a Power Outage will result in you turning into a Red Slime Pup, with glowing, red, crystal spines along its back. During Blackouts, you will instead turn into a white Slime Pup with a ghostly, white, translucent body and a wispy tail.

Golden and Diamond

Golden Slime Pups have a 1/250 (0.4%) chance of being your color. The chance is lower when there are below 15 players in a server, at 1/750 [0.13%]. Getting this rare variant will reward you with the "A Rare Variant" badge and the "Aureate" bat skin.

Diamond Slime Pups have a 1/500 (0.2%) chance of being your color. The chance is lower when there are below 15 players in a server, at 1/1500 [0.07%]. These variants are the rarest Gootraxians in the game.

Neither of these rare variants can be obtained during events.

Rainbow

You can become a Rainbow Slime Pup that shifts through multiple colors by eating a Strange Crystal from a Human's hand and waiting for around 20 seconds. You will get the Perficiendus Perfectum badge from this as well as the Rainbow Bat skin by feeding Slime Pups the Strange Crystal as a survivor.

Alternatively, they can be achieved in private servers by nicknaming yourself a certain name or by using the :rb, rb [player] command.

The Slime Pup is received the following message upon eating a Strange Crystal and waiting around 10 seconds:

• You feel very strange..

Tips

Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.

• Survival as a Slime Pup is very challenging as the bite and steal cooldown is long and not efficient for PVP.
• Be with groups of Gootraxians as it will increase your chances of survival as a Slime Pup and it will make your steal ability more useful.
  • Biting while in groups can damage those you are helping so only use it as a last resort.
  • Hazzys are the strongest when they first transform and have a sickle.
• Using the terrain to your advantage is a necessary tactic as you are smaller than humans so you can use tables, shelves, and possibly the hang in the support room.
• When stealing, players may attack you because you stole an item and they want it back. So if you do this often, the best option is to be away from the human team when you are alone or you are with a Gootraxian that is not good at PVP when they are alone.

Bestiary Entry

A small, dog sized creature that is translucent, with a skull like mask on the front. They can vary in colors. These creatures are the first of the neutral species that have been created, and have been noted to follow humans and infected around, expecting food and pets. They're often childlike, but on rare occasions the aggressive biters are seen to grow in size, and eventually form into a Slime Hound. Slime Pups are often extremely curious, but lazy. They sleep around a lot, and will even sleep on your back if you let them. If one is bothering you, just give it a treat or something.

Trivia

• Slime Pups are the first Gootraxians in the game to have abilities that are not the standard attack and grab.
• In the past, any time a Slime Pup was hit, they would make a squeaking noise.
  • This trait was shared with the late Slime Dragon and Slime Hound, the latter playing a lower-pitched sound.
    • As of late, however, this effect has since been removed for all slime creatures.
• Slime Pups are the only Gootraxians in the game to have a size value of 0.8 (Based on the private server's size command).
  • They are also one of four Gootraxians to have a different size value, the others being the late Slime Dragon Pup (being 0.882), Kaiju (being 1.1) and Witchbrew (being 0.85).
• Using the "Pat" emote on a Slime Pup used to result in a special reactive animation with unique heart particle effects.
  • This effect also occurred if the Slime Pup rode on a Slime Dragon or Slime Hound that were of the same color.
• The Slime Pup's ability to steal bats started as a bug that hadn't been fixed. Now, it has been revamped into an ability that all Slime Pups possess.
• Slime Pups used to be able to slide under the shelves easily due to their small size.
  • You can no longer do this, as they added a barrier for them.
  • However, some gaps can still be slid under, such as the tables in the Main Hall.
• The nickname method of making Rainbow Slime Pups references the infamous "jeb_" Rainbow sheep easter egg from Minecraft.
• As confirmed by a developer, the Slime Pup's face masks were based on apple cores, the eyes being seeds and the mask color being similar to the inside of an apple.
• According to their concept artist, Slime Pups taste like fruit and the flavor depends on their color. Their tail is safe to eat, but eating anywhere else will turn you into one of them.
• Originally, the Slime Pup was going to be lime-colored only.
• Killing a Slime Pup by feeding it a Lemon Slice will play a fart sound effect with extra reverb as it dissolves into nothing.
• Landing the final blow as a Golden Slime Pup using Bite will turn the deceased player into gold, playing the money sound.
• If the player constantly hovers on and off of Slime Pup's Bestiary icon, the icon will play a squeaking noise, like Slime Dragon and similar to Slime Hound.
• Diamond variants used to be a darker shade of blue. This was later changed to a lighter color likely to differentiate from cyan and to make identifying the Diamond variants easier.
• According to their concept artist, the eyes of Slime Pups are in their mask, different from what many people think.
• Ghost Slime Pup variants used to turn invisible upon hit, similar to Ghost Fox. Currently, invisibility for ghost pup variants are no longer a thing.
• Ghost Slime Pup variants had a darker tint of gray as their ears and neck fur. Currently, the color is replaced with white.
• During the 2022 April Fools event the Red Slime Pup variant was replaced with the Lean Slime Pup variant. Lean pups were the same as the red pups, but colored purple.
• During the V3.1 Hallows' Eve event, the White Slime Pup variant was replaced with the Bloodmoon Slime Pup variant. Bloodmoon pups were the same as the ghost pups, but colored dark red.
• Rainbow Slime Pups play the OST "Transit" composed by Fishcracks upon using the Smug emote.
  • Alternatively, Rainbow Pups can play "Transit" when riding a player.
• Rainbow Slime Pup's ability to play music while riding a player was originally added to the game during experimental testing. The idea was sparked when a random Slime Pup was given a boombox and rode Blax (BlaxorReborn) while playing the radio.
• Ghost Slime Pup variants used to be able to go through doors/gates.

• For a short amount of time, in Private Servers of Kaiju Paradise Experimental, there was an Emerald Slime Pup. The Emerald pup appeared as a green version of the Diamond Slime Pup.
  • The Emerald pup played a sped up version of "Not Enough Time" by Fishcracks, had an M134 strapped to its back, could explode, spawn hostile plushies, had an outline that allowed it to be seen anywhere on the map, could obstruct a player's screen with the word "Ouchie," and dropped 20 Emerald Crates with only 1 crate being real.
  • Picking up any of the false crates would result in the crate shooting and deducting a 1,000 from the player. The real crate would only grant the player a guaranteed Emerald Knife skin.
• Slime pups were initially able to wear gray buckets as a hat, similar to yellow cones as a hat. It is unsure whether the removal of that feature was intentional.
• In the old icon for the KP Discord server, the slime pups have visible mouths, which is never seen in-game.
• Before the V3.2 update, Rainbow Slime Pup's message prior to eating a Strange Crystal was the following message before switching to "You feel very strange..":
  • Something is happening to your body..
• At some period of time in early development of Kaiju Paradise, eating multiple Strange Crystals allowed the Slime Pup to eat multiple strange crystals to stack the trail effect until it became white.
  • Before V3.2, eating multiple Strange Crystals did nothing, including not showing a second explosion effect.
    • Currently, eating more than one Strange Crystal will make the Slime Pup blow up, dealing 35 damage to nearby players and killing the Slime Pup instantly. The following message is shown to the Slime Pup before promptly exploding:
      • Too much power is radiating from your body..
• Slime Pup is one of the only Gootraxians who can outright kill other Gootraxians.
  • The only other Gootraxian that can kill Gootraxians are Kaiju.

Bugs

• Slime Pups were temporarily able to ride other pups by first riding Humans and then having the Human turn themselves into a Slime Pup. This would allow players to stack on top of each other and create a dog pile of Slime Pups.
  • This bug has returned following the V3.1 Cosmetics Update.
• During one of the reworks for "Steal" in experimental, Slime Pups could temporarily steal boomboxes from Night Shade.
• There was a bug that would render a Slime Pup's ability to ride players unusable.
• During the Hallows Eve update, pups were unable to eat anything.
• There was a bug that allowed Slime Pups to appear inside a player's chest by sleeping before riding a player.

Just like a chest-burster!

• Pups were able to purchase bats from Abble's Shop.
• There was a glitch that Slime Pups could use by utilizing the Sleep tool and Shift Lock. This would allow them to break the extended player's body through walls and reach unintended spots. This was an infamous glitch within the community.
• If multiple pups grabbed a bat at the same time, they would all grab it, causing a "fusion." More than 2 of them could fuse.
• There was a bug in Private servers where Slime Pups could eat roombas.
  • If a Rainbow Slime Pup steals a bat that uses particles or trails, such as Batsabers or Nebulas, the particles will change colors to sync with the rainbow.
• If you rode someone's back as a Ghost Slime Pup, you would lose your ability to phase through players/doors.
• If you used shiftlock as a Slime pup, your legs would sometimes clip into the ground. This would result in the player being flung in the direction they were facing.
