Template:Gootraxian Catte (simply pronounced as Cat) is an orange feline Gootraxian.

They have pure white eyes and light creamsicle underbellies, neck fur and inner ears. They also usually have bright orange buckets on their heads.

Players infected by a Catte do not have a bucket on their head like those infected normally do, but they are able to pick up new orange buckets found around the map.

Abilities

Bucket Drop (Death)

When a Catte is killed, the bucket from the its head will drop to the ground, waiting to acquire a new host to transform.

Eject

They may eject the bucket they have on their own. After ejecting it, the Catte is able to re-obtain their bucket by finding another one around the map and stepping on it, which does not include the recently ejected bucket or a bucket dropped via another player. The ejected bucket will despawn after 30 seconds if no one picks it up.

Spill

When a Catte has Eject equipped, the player may press their Ability Keybind (PC) or a UI button (mobile) to create an orange puddle. If stepped in, these puddles deal 30 damage per instance, similar to the goo puddles found around the map, which may be reduced to 18 if the individual is wearing a Hazmat Suit. Puddles may be increased in size when using the ability on a preexisting one. Creating a puddle deals 10 damage to the Catte, while expanding an existing puddle deals 1.75.

Puddles may be stepped in multiple times by survivors, but the puddles disappear after 15 seconds.

If attempted to be used with Grab or Attack the game will state "You need to have Eject equipped to use your ability."

Transformation (Blackout Only)

They can transform into a Buck during Blackouts if they obtain a black bucket. The orange bucket must be ejected to equip the black buckets that replace the orange buckets found around the map.

Acquirement

Catte can be acquired by walking over an orange bucket from anywhere in the map, losing all health to a Catte puddle or by being directly infected by another Catte Gootraxian, though you won't have the bucket upon infection for the latter two. It takes about 23 seconds to be infected after putting on the orange bucket.

When equipping the bucket, the message

"A bucket has suddenly been placed on top of you.."

will appear.

Tips

Please note that most things listed in this section are not objective, and are not the "Correct" way to use them. This section is used to give advice to players who want to learn how to use their tools more efficiently.

  • Catte is very good at shutting down large areas of the map via covering it in buckets and puddles, so it's recommended to set up a puddle in a place where a lot of humans travel through, such as the Cafe Gate, Hound Room, and Garden.
  • Your puddles only last around 15 seconds, so it's usually not a good idea to leave your puddle's general area unless you either have another Catte take care of it or don't care about the puddle disappearing.
  • It is impossible for Catte to put puddles anywhere inside the Flooded Area, Cafeteria and the Freezer, so it's not recommended to be near those areas unless you don't plan on staying.
  • For easy access to playing as Buck, it's usually a good idea to just play as Catte and wait until the event starts, rather than playing another Gootraxian and trying to guess when it happens.
    • Catte's unique ability to create puddles on the floor allows you to secure yourself an area to wait near buckets instead of resorting to using the smaller puddles around the map.
      • Due to the fact that Catte's abilities are more versatile and easily usable, while Buck's are more difficult and event-locked, some would prefer to avoid playing as Buck if they have a high infect streak.

Trivia

  • When a Gootraxian uses "Attack" on the survivor and knocks the bucket off your head, the text "The bucket was knocked off your head!" would pop up.
  • The Catte originally took 20 HP of damage while ejecting the bucket.
    • This was removed in v3.1R
  • Cattes were the first kind of Gootraxian to have the ability of leaving behind a transmogrifying item after death, this item being its bucket.
    • They were originally going to have traffic cones instead of buckets, but this was changed during their development due to similarities to a character from a different game.
      • This was most likely reworked into the Slime Pups and their ability to wear traffic cones on their head for extra health.
  • If you use the Overseer machete skin and kill a Catte that has a bucket equipped, the bucket will turn invisible, making it act like an invisible "landmine".
    • This also happens with the "Batsaber" bat skins.
    • This applies to other Gootraxians that also drop a transmogrifying item after death.
  • Catte's first redesign was released in V3.1.
  • When a Catte turns into a Buck, its face will briefly change to its death face.
    • However, after a mini update, its face cannot be barely seen since the goo first emerges from the characters' head.
      • As of v3.1R, this no longer happens as players no longer have transform animations.
  • In the Experimental Build, there is a badge called Trick Shot that is obtained by ejecting its bucket and having it land straight up. If done correctly, the bucket drops a few credits, shoots out confetti, emits a party horn sound effect and a text saying "PERFECT FLIP!" will appear above it.
    • If the bucket lands on it's top instead of it's bottom, the confetti and badge will not appear, but the "PERFECT FLIP!" text will be replaced by either "SO CLOSE!" or "ALMOST THERE!"
    • This feature has since been added to the main game in the V3.1 Late Winter Update, but the badge was not added.
  • They are the only Gootraxian that are able to turn into a different Gootraxian without dying.
    • In this case, Catte turns into Buck.
File:Spill BOOM.gif
The now removed easter egg which caused the Catte to explode and die while trying to spill near the toilets in the bathroom
  • There used to be an easter egg where if the Catte attempted to use the Spill near the bathroom's toilets, the player could explode and die.
    • It was removed later due to unintentional bugs.
  • Oddly, this is one of the gootraxians that lacks a bestiary description.
  • Currently, its one of the gootraxians to have costumes, being the Snowboarder Catte and the Tiger Catte
  • When the Spill ability was introduced, an unique equip and idle animation was introduced, showing it taking its bucket off its head.
  • The Catte's pose and facial expression seen in the Experimental Build's icon seems to be similar to the one seen in the Saturn's pre-v3.1R Bestiary icon.

Bugs

  • Currently, there's a bug where if you pick up a Catte bucket and get infected in a Catte puddle, the bucket will be flung off your head, but you will still have the "Eject" ability.
    • Trying to use "Eject" without its bucket, will result in this text: "I think there's a problem." along side removing the "Eject" tool.
      • However, you will still be able to use the Spill ability, the bucket in question appearing to be invisible.
  • There are certain areas of the map where Catte will not be able to place puddles despite some surfaces appearing to be flat.
